The Warring States Period

It lasted from 475-221 BCE. Even though there is 35 years between the Warring States Period and the Eastern Zhou dynasty it is classified to be the second part of the Eastern Zhou dynasty. Many of the city-states durring the Spring Autumn period were condenced into seven major powers. The powers were called Qi, Chu, Yan, Han, Zhao, Wei and Qin. They gradually conquared the smaller powers. This period was split into three different stages.

The first stage happend in 475-338 BCE. This period was marked by the death of the last king in the Shang dynasty Zhou. This was a stable periods most statesmen just strengthened there state throught reform.

The second stage was from 338-288 BCE. In this period the wars started. In 288 BCE. the Qi and Qin powers became Eastern and Western Empire. Also in 284 BCE. six states launched a war against the Qi power.

The third stage was from 288-221 BCE. The Qin power took over the other six powers. And then in 221 BCE. the Qin power unified the country ending the Warring States Period.
